Being a Stand!

Through the course of the last 60 days, there is something that I've realized each of us are trying to accomplish throughout our lives (sometimes intentionally, sometimes its the subconscious mind) - and that is to find a purpose in life.

The question you ask might be different. It might be something you ask yourself at the end of your 12th grade, it might be something that you ask yourself at the end of your 1st year in College, it might be something that people ask of you in a random conversation while you are "chilling" - but it surely comes our way, some form or the other.

Clearly it's not something that is easy to answer. It is not easy to put a finger on something, one find day, and say I will devote my existence to this thing. It is not easy surely, but the fact is that it is as important as any battle you pick in your life (consciously) - the process of figuring out, at a particular moment in life, the purpose of life.

Recently (thanks to 2 awesome individuals), I've had a chance to look at this question from a different perspective. I've had a chance to answer the question from a different view point. And that is of "Being a stand in life...".

And now I quote:

"A stand is personal, but it must transcend your own concerns. You all already have implicit stands - things you care about deeply and principles that guide your actions. Our claim is that there is a greater leadership power, satisfaction, and clarity available from making your implicit stand explicit."

"In our society today there is a large focus on what we call the adolescent culture. This is the culture of me, mine, now. It caters to the individual ego and, in our opinion, keeps us from having the deeper experience or a meaningful life. In declaring your stand, you step out of the small life that is centered on "me" and into a larger life that is centered on the world and your place in it."

As is visible, the process of being a stand is very well connected to the conscious process of finding a purpose in life, that each one of us faces at different points in life. It is just a different and more powerful way of coming up with an answer to THE question and definitely a more powerful way of expressing it.

The last thing to note is that there is a difference between being a stand and taking a stand. And this difference is very important. The way I'd explain it is "Pick your Battles" in life but "Don't let them pick you".

With this I would like to end this long post by just putting out my Stand that I have for myself. And though there might be certain modifications at varying points of time, the battle that I've picked for myself is to modify it into something very concrete by the end of August next year. It's going to be difficult, but I know that the battle is not picking me and thus in the end I am going to win!

I am a stand for making positive impact in the world through Technology that is renowned because of its usefulness in the fields of Environment, Robotics & Automation.
